1.4 million Children dying each year due to lack of vaccines

Aljazeera reports “about 1.4 million children under five die needlessly each year from
measles, whooping cough and other diseases that are easily prevented by
vaccines. According to a report published on Thursday by the UN
children's agency, major gains made in vaccinating the world's children
during the 1980s have levelled off.”

Arab Gathering for Translation

The Arab Thought Foundation, with the help of government agencies, just organized the “Arab Gathering for Translation” event in Beirut. This should be a welcoming efforts to help improve the translation sector between Arab and rest of the world

Aljazeera.Net - Arab superheroes take to the air

AlJazeera reports on the new Middle East heroine, Jalila, to battle the bad guys and ensure justice in the Middle East. It is not a true character but rather a create of an Egyptian artist, Ayman Kandeel, who founded the AK Comics for the young Arab generations in 2003.

Aljazeera launches children's channel

Aljazeera launched the first Arabic-language channel dedicated to children. Named Aljazeera Children's Channel (JCC), the channel will help educate Arab children and be a "bridge for communication between Arab children and children around the world" (quoted from Shaikha Mozah).

Alliance of civilizations unveiled

Promoting "Alliance of Civilisations" between West and the Islamic world, with South African archbishop Desmond Tutu and former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami as two of its 18 members, is a new UN initiative reveated this Friday that Tony Blair describes as "coalition of civil people from whatever race or religion to combat the barbarity of terrorism."
