The Arab Human Development Report 2004

The United Nations Human Development Program (UNDP) has released its third out of four reports on Arab human development. Contrary to the first two reports that focused on Arab deficits and knowledge gap, this report focused on politics, reforms and freedom in the Arab world.

Half of Arab Women illiterate

A report produced by the Arab League and UNICEF said that half of the women in the Arab world are illiterate and more than 10 million children are out of school. Mortality rate among under-five children is 60 for every 1000 births, compared to 6 in industrialized countries.
