Sesame Stories Promote Tolerance, Mutual Respect in Middle East - US Department of State

US Department of State has an article on how Sesame Street & Sesame Stories are helping to promote tolerance and mutual respect in the Middle East and the world. Study found that Palestinian, Jordanian and Israeli children, after viewing the programs, have responded with (quoted) "positive moral explanations" and more "reasoning skills" when the Middle East conflict was discussed with them. Moreover various researches have indicated that such children programs have (quoted) "helped children develop a more positive sense of self and the 'other' culture". Children among ethnic Albanian, Macedonian, Roman and Turkish have shown more positive images of one another. Children in South Africa have learned more on health, HIV and coping with illness after Sesame Street introduced HIV-positive muppets to its program.
